The Piece That Started It All

I found this piece at a thrift store and thought at first that I would make it look "FunKtionally FunKy", but after I brought it home and looked at it for a while, I decided that it was actually quite beautiful in a 1960's sort of way.  So I immediately got to work.

After many, many hours and piles of sanding dust later.................

Here she is!  She's gorgeous if I say so myself.  And quite shiny.  Even her hardware had a facelift!

After that I was hooked.  But I was ready to get really funKy, so I just made another trip to the thrift store to see what else I could find.

Lo and behold........ I found a piece of junk!

Pretty awful, huh?  Not to mention the fact that the top doesn't match the bottom.  But did I care?

Nope.

I just got to work.
I sanded and painted and sanded and painted.  I even threw in a little bit of fabric..............

Are you ready for the "after"?

I think this turned out So.  Cool.  It really got my juices going.  I had every potential color at my fingertips to work with!  (well, at least what they have at Lowe's and Depot)  Just think of the possibilities????

Red.  I just HAD to do a piece in red, my ultimate, by far, FAVORITE color.

So I searched all of my furniture haunts but didn't find anything that wanted to come home with me. (At least for the amount of money I wanted to spend)  What better place to look?  My own house!  Yep, I decided that my end tables could really look better.  I mean, I was on a roll!  I needed to get all of my creative thoughts down on furniture.  I figured once I was done with my end tables, I would search my haunts again for something new.
